The SECRET of happiness is to never forget who you truly are.
So - always be sure to carry the child within your heart with you wherever you go and to never let another person, experience or situation define who you are.
That opening line of Dr. Christiane Northrup's January 7th blog post caught my attention! Especially now, at the beginning of the new year, when so many of our thoughts are focused on how we are going to change and improve our lives and ourselves in this upcoming "Year of the Horse"!
I love this thought process of keeping our thoughts positive and high vibrational, then, as our cells regenerate or renew, they, too, become positive and high vibrational. They will regenerate into healthy, strong cells. Dr. Northrup says to" keep your mind focused on high, ecstatic vibrational thoughts to create a flourishing life and body"...not always easy, but always rewarding! Get the whole scoop from Dr. Christiane Northrup here ALSO she will be discussing this on her radio show "Flourish!" (Hay House Radio) on January 11, 2014 at 11AM PST. Give it a listen!
I have a link to get you there...scroll to the bottom of my blog home page and find the Hay House Radio widget and click the play button!
Happy Thoughts and Happy New Year!
Paul Stamets is one of the world’s foremost experts on fungi and his astonishing work is so groundbreaking that he has even been called “a man who could actually save the world”. In addition to discovering diverse applications for fungi including the cleanup of radioactive contamination, he is also involved in two NIH-funded clinical studies on cancer and HIV treatments using mushrooms as adjunct therapies.
In 2009, Paul’s 84 year old mother was given less than 3 months to live after her breast cancer metastasized (spread) throughout her body. Her doctor said it was one of the most severe cases she had ever seen in 20 years of practice. After radiation treatment and mastectomy were ruled out, doctors said there was nothing else they could do for her and that she should prepare for the end. After trying Taxol (Paclitaxel) (a chemotherapy treatment made from Yew trees) unsuccessfully, they decided to tryHerceptin (Trastuzumab), together with Turkey Tail Fungus at 8 capsules per day.
They were not exactly hopeful, but turkey tail fungus had shown some remarkable results in lab testing and researchers had noted a “dose-dependent increase in production of natural killer cells” (anticancer cells in the body). So having little to lose, they gave it a try.
After six months – and to this day – Paul Stamets’ mother is completely cancer free. No detectable tumors whatsoever.
This is a MAJOR LEAGUE dramatic cure – absolutely remarkable news!
So – what is Turkey Tail Fungus and what makes researchers think that it has the potential to cure cancer?
What Is Turkey Tail Fungus?
Turkey Tail Fungus (Trametes versicolor aka. Coriolus versicolor, Polyporus versicolor, Yun Zhi, Kawaratake) is a common type of polypore mushroom (bracket fungus) that is found in forests (growing on wood) all over the world. [1]
It has been used for thousands of years in China to make a medicinal tea. In recent years, researchers are starting to take notice in a big way and the evidence from animal and lab studies that Turkey Tail Fungus (TTF) strengthens the immune system is sufficient that the FDA has approved clinical trials, allowing its use as an adjunct to chemotherapy in advanced prostate cancer cases. [2]
How Does TTF Fight Against Cancer Cells?
The principal active components in Turkey Tail Fungus arePolysaccharides (a fascinating, complex group of compounds) – such as Polysaccharide-K (aka PSK). There is a significant body of evidence to support PSK’s anticancer activity in in vitro, in vivo and in human clinical trials – for treatment of gastric, esophageal, colorectal, breast and lung cancers. [3]
PSK appears not to be the only active ingredient (another argument for whole plant extracts!) Remarkable results are appearing in several studies for polysaccharopeptide (PSP). [4] In one astonishing study from the Queensland University of Technology, polysaccharopeptide (PSP) extracted from TTF was found to target prostate cancer stem cells and be 100% effective in suppressing tumor formation in mice. [5]
According to Stamets; TTF has an action that boosts the immune system’s response, producing more of the “killer” T-cells and other defense mechanisms that attack cancerous cells and protect the body. To quote one scientific review “The immunomodulating action of mushroom polysaccharides is to stimulate natural killer cells, T-cells, B-cells, neutrophils, and macrophage dependent immune system responses.” [6]
Stamets’ statements about cancer are knowledgeable: “We all have cancer all the time… nature is a numbers game, cancer is a numbers game. How many coefficients can you get on your side of the game that will result in your surviving cancer?” [7] This is accurate according to current thinking: We do in fact always have cancer cells inside us – but the body’s immune response is what keeps them in check under normal circumstances. However should the immune system become weakened or otherwise “outnumbered”, then the cancer cells can take hold and the disease can manifest.
Stamets goes on to explain that the cancer is cloaked from the immune system and that the body’s natural defense “killer cells” cannot find binding sites on the skin of the tumors. The mushroom extracts appear to allow the body’s natural killer cells to invade and destroy the tumors. [8]
Herbalism appears to be one of the forms of medicine with the greatest hopes in the quest for cancer cures. Were you aware that 73% of all accepted cancer medicines are derived from natural products? [9] In addition, hundreds of other studies and lab tests have demonstrated anti-cancer effects of various plants – yet these studies, often underfunded, do not often reach the human trial stage.

Reiki is a Japanese technique (or therapy) for stress reduction, relaxation and healing. It is carried out by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

I have found an article that is almost as genius as Nikola Tesla himself. If you are not familiar with Nikola Tesla...first of all, shame on you! ;), and second of all, you need to read this work by Matthew Inman on his TheOatmeal.com site. It is FULL of interesting information on Tesla and his amazing, gifted and tragic life. It is a quick read, written in a "comics" style. You will be fascinated, impressed, angry, sad AND actually get a few chuckles! Once you learn about Tesla, you will probably want to know more. Matthew gives you some ideas in his notes at the end. Also, something that was exciting news to me...work is underway to save and rehabilitate Tesla's laboratory at Wardenclyffe! There are plans to turn it in to a science center to Tesla Museum! Check this out!
Is there anyone who doesn’t like cuddling? On the physical affection spectrum, it may not be an all-star, but it’s definitely a winner in terms of improving our health and well-being.
Besides the obvious physical pleasure of cuddling, there is a brain chemistry reaction that has far reaching effects. All those warm fuzzy feelings are nothing compared to the benefits we get from the release of the hormone Oxytocin.
The next time you hold someone close, take a deep breath and let it go. Unless it’s someone you’d rather not be hugging, chances are you’ll notice your heart rate and your breathing slow down a bit. As the oxytocin levels rise, they affect the hormones that keep us at the ready for action and allow our blood pressure to drop.
Ever have that feeling that nothing can hurt you because you’re so in love? Well, it was probably the oxytocin. This effect of oxytocin is particularly helpful for women in labor, but has implications for the rest of us too. What’s the first thing we do after jamming a finger? We rub it with our other hand. Even this self-stimulation triggers a release of oxytocin and helps us deal with the pain.
When our brains release oxytocin, we are more likely to have an optimistic outlook about connecting with others, better self-esteem and an easier time trusting those around us. Newer studies are exploring the usefulness of oxytocin (and even supplemental oxytocin) for both post-traumatic stress disorder and autism.
Too much cortisol is bad news—for our moods, our weight and our hearts. While stress hormones like cortisol are a good thing when we need to react in a hurry, poor stress management can keep cortisol levels high even when we don’t need it.
We hear all the time that inflammation is unhealthy and increases the aging process. Instead of reaching for another bowl of ice cream, consider a little extra cuddle time before falling asleep.
WHAT ABOUT SINGLE PEOPLE?
HUG YOUR FRIENDS
We associate cuddling and physical affection with romantic relationships, but something as simple as a hug will also increase oxytocin levels.
